The frontline indices have slipped in red on account of selling pressure in capital goods, IT and power stocks. The midcap index is trading with moderate gains but the smallcaps are holding out their gains.
At 2.02 hrs IST, the Sensex is down 106.38 points or 0.54% at 19526.98, and the Nifty down 50.40 points or 0.85% at 5857.25.
About 1966 shares have advanced, 1034 shares declined, and 66 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Midcap index is up over 0.4% and the smallcap index is up 1.4%.
Rupee is trading strong at 39.33 against the dollar.
Buying is seen in select banking FMCG, pharma, cement and oil & gas stocks. However, realty, power and capital good stocks are trading weak
Among the frontliners ACC, ITC, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, SAIL, HPCL and GAIL were among the top gainers.
The top laggards on the indices were BHEL, Infosys, DLF, Hindalco, Unitech, Nalco, Sterlite Ind, Tata Power, Sun Pharma.
IL&FS Investsma, Thomas Cook, JindalStainless, HEG, Prism Cement were among thetop midcap gainers.
In the smallcap space Oriental Hotels, Suryalakshmi Co, Zenith Infotech, GMR Industries, Mirza Intl, Subros were among the gainers.
